*RIVENDELL* sackville backabike bag (olive)

The Sackville Backabike Bag from Rivendell Cycle Works.

Simple, exceptionally well made, and a little more expensive than Ortlieb panniers. They're sold individually, but we recommend getting two.

The bag mounts with two leather buckle straps and an included stabilizing strap. It's not the one-handed, one-second mounting system you'll find on many modern bags, but if you can spare about 30 seconds, you'll appreciate just how simple and secure it is.

No plastic clips. No release buttons. Just leather buckles.

There's also something reassuring about a mounting system with nothing to wear out or break.

Loading and unloading couldn't be much easier. The wooden toggle closure is quick to use and has a satisfying feel that makes opening and closing the bag a pleasure every time.

Because the shape is symmetrical, each bag works equally well on either side of the bike. It also pairs nicely with racks like the Nitto Big Front, Nitto Big Rear, and Rivendell Clem Rack.

The fabric itself is waterproof and handles everyday commuting rain without any trouble.

If you're heading out on an extended tour where heavy rain is expected, we recommend lining the bag with a plastic liner or dry bag. The seams aren't sealed, and water can eventually find its way through the stitching or the rear mounting slots during prolonged downpours.
