SURLY is a Minneapolis-based bicycle brand known for producing durable, high-quality bikes and components.

To celebrate BLUE LUG's 20th anniversary, the legendary TORSION BAR makes a limited-edition comeback through a special triple collaboration between SURLY, NITTO, and BLUE LUG.

Originally developed by SURLY and NITTO for the 1×1, SURLY's very first model and a singlespeed mountain bike, the TORSION BAR was something special from the start.

With a 666 mm width that was considered wide for its time, a gentle 15° backsweep, and the excellent vibration-damping properties of chromoly steel, it offered a unique combination of comfort and durability.

Back then, most MTB handlebars were made from aluminum. But true to SURLY's philosophy, they chose a material that prioritized strength and comfort, even if it meant adding a little extra weight.

Once you've experienced how naturally these bars fit your hands, it's hard to go back. There's something almost magical about them.

From mountain bikes tearing through the wilderness to track bikes cruising through city streets, the TORSION BAR is a versatile handlebar that feels right at home on just about any bike.

Whether you're discovering the TORSION BAR for the first time or remember it from back in the day, now's the perfect opportunity to experience it for yourself.

Our Hatagaya mechanic Kaneyan is one of the many riders who's fallen under the TORSION BAR's spell. He rides a 1×1 on the trails and recently took his longtime STEAMROLLER back to its birthplace during a trip to Minneapolis, a homecoming he'd been dreaming of for years.
